Join the Pavilion of Denmark at SPG 2022 - the leading exhibition for the global fish- and seafood processing industry plus aquaculture industry at its brand new location in Barcelona, Spain.

New location for SPG - new opportunities

Seafood Processing Global (SPG) has selected Barcelona as its new exhibition location as it can host this successful and constantly developing fish/seafood event. Barcelona offers room for further development of this leading exhibition where stakeholders, decision markers, buyers and suppliers from the global fish/seafood processing and aquaculture industry meet. In 2019 SPG broke all previous records with more than 29,000 buyers and suppliers from all around the world meeting during the three-day event, where new business relations are etablished, orders closed, new opportunities discussed and existing relationships nurtured.

SPG is a must-attend international exhibition for suppliers, key buyers, professionals and decision-makers in the global fish- & seafood industry. This major trade event has an international outlook and the exhibition is considered the most important exhibition worldwide within fish and seafood processing. No other exhibition in the world gathers the global fish- and seafood industry in one location as Seafood Expo Global (SEG) & Seafood Processing Global (SPG) taking place in parallel, offering obvious synergies and making the exhibition relevant for a wide range of companies supplying equipment, solutions and services to the international fish and seafood, processing and aquaculture industry.

In recent years suppliers to the international aquaculture industry have made their way to SPG with success as part of the industry value chain.

Furthermore Barcelona and Spain will offer complete new perspectives, with Barcelona being a large seafood hub in Europe and Spain being the largest fish/seafood producer in EU. The new location in Barcelona for SPG 2022 is expected to create great interest among stakeholders from the industry in Spain, which can offer new opportunities also for Danish suppliers of equipment and solutions to the industry participating on SPG.

The Spanish industry - in brief

The fish processing industry in Spain

Spain is the leading fishing industry nation in EU and stands for 18% of the total production of fish/seafood in EU and also have the largest fish processing industry sector in EU. To be competitive and future-oriented the fish processing industry in Spain have a need to streamline and optimize the value creation in the industry. Danish suppliers have strong competences and technology for streamlining and assuring value optimization within fish processing which might contribute to develop and lift the industry in Spain to a new level.

The aquaculture industry in Spain

The aquaculture industry in Spain is also number 1 in EU measured by volume. The Spanish government in 2014 launched a strategic development plan for the aquaculture industry towards 2030 with a production target of 500.000+ tons by 2030.

The industry is seen to have considerable growth potential, but the investments have been lacking over the last years. However the ambitons for the industry are intact and as an example an investor within regional development together with one of the large players in Spain have invested EUR 31 mio in just one land based salmon farm, which will be the first of its kind in Spain.
